The post graduate department of commerce and business management of the college was established in 1970 with B.com Pass course. The main objective of establishing this department was to impart commerce education to the students of nearby area especially to the students coming from the rural belt.

To cater the requirements of the professional education B.com professional course was introduced in the session 2000-2001. This course specifically meets the requirements of industry where professional graduate having practical training and knowledge of Accounting, Banking, and Other allied areas of commerce are required for placements.

The course was well received by the people as seats allotted by Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar are fully filled every year to meet additional requirements of the college, a second unit of B.com (Professional) was allotted by University during the session 2013-2014.

To provide opportunities to commerce graduates to pass their Masters of commerce in the college itself, Master in commerce was started during the session 2005-2006. This is the only co-educational institution of Phagwara having Masters in Commerce. The commerce graduates of not only our college but of other local colleges are taking admission in Masters in Commerce. Besides this the college is also running PG Diploma’s of one year duration in the stream of Business Management and Marketing Management. These are specialized Diploma’s having course curriculum, which provide job opportunities in different Industries.

Computer Science

Department of Computer Science was established in the year 2000 with intake of 50 students in both courses Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) and Bachelor of Science(IT) under GNDU. In addition to graduate courses, department is also running productively post-graduate courses in computer science. There has been a swift growth in the infrastructure of the branch since it established. The objective of computer science department is to produce quality computer professionals from rural area.Students find an exclusive place of opportunities available to study for the graduate as well as post-graduate programs.

The stream of Humanities/Arts is the parent department of the college. It consists of three languages,Punjabi,Hindi and English(General as well as Elective) and of course Social Science i.e. History, Political Science and Economics. Physical Education and Music also run parallel to the above said subjects.

Computer Education is also being imparted to the students by providing the Computer Application as a subject. Department uses modern technology for interactive learning with the help of smart boards. The department strives to make the students adept in language skills by making use of language lab, where they acquire knowledge of writing, speaking and listening.

The department chalks out its pedagogy so that overall personality of the students may be developed. Arts Association and Punjabi Sahitya Sabha are the two associations which time to time organize different competitions for the students to boost their interest in creative skills. The competitions like Eassy writing, Paper reading, Elocution, Debate, Painting, Poem writing, Poster making are organized in above said three languages.

Students are encouraged to make use of seminar hall by writing and presenting papers on different topics. They are encouraged to give power point presentation so that they can learn advanced teaching skills. Eminent resource persons are also invited by the department to enlighten and enrich the students' knowledge. To make the students aware of physical fitness time to time lectures on Yoga and Yoga-camps are also organized by the department. Teachers of the department work hard to prepare students for cultural activities and they participate in Youth festival or other competitions and bring laurels to the college.
